Smart phones are in the hands of 95% of US teens. One in four teens use an e-cigarette every day. Fentanyl deaths among 10–19-year-olds are increasing, while deaths decline in other age groups. Mental health status was stable with teens in the 1990s to 2000s but has been plummeting since 2010. Smart phones, substances and social media have been colliding; resulting in negative effects for Gen Z and the upcoming Alpha Generation. In this class we will discuss the dangerous and inappropriate content the developing brain is being exposed to. We will look at the impact of teen girls spending 20 hours a week on social media. We will identify how easy it is to use the smart phones to connect with strangers and use apps to buy poisons like vapes, counterfeit pills, fentanyl and more. Information on the popularity and prevalence of vapes will be shared, as well as facts on fentanyl becoming the deadliest drug in the world. We are living in an ever-changing world of drugs and technology that are affecting everyone. Attend this seminar to learn and discuss this constant evolution. Walk away with information, resources, and connections.
